WHAT IS THIS?

This is an attempt to find out which civilization truly is the greatest - using Civilization IV.

WHY IS THIS?

Why not? The Reddit thread about the guy who played Civilization II for over 10 years (and dragged the world into a nuclear war 2000 years long) got me thinking - what would happen if we took the 'human' out of 'human civilization'?

The answer, obviously, is The Terminator. But since I can't simulate that, how about we just play Civilization IV? Or more accurately, let the computer play Civilization IV against itself, and see which tribe emerges triumphant? I mean, can stand the test of time?

HOW IS THIS?

Here's how it'll work. Using the Quot Capita - Majesty mod, dozens of civilizations will battle it out, 10 at a time.

Essentially, I'll go through the list, pick out the most famous leaders, and put them up against each other 10 at a time.

The winner will be chosen via the Mastery victory condition - a points system that awards civilizations based on their achievements overall, rather than just getting really, really good at one thing.

But I won't just select the winner to go through to the next round, because that's leaving too much to chance. Instead, the civilizations will battle it out over three games. Any civilizations who win a game will go to the next round. If a civilization wins more than once, a runner-up will also be chosen, based on the highest Mastery score they achieved in a single game.

Revolutions will be turned off in round one to speed up the process.

The maps will be small, at least in this first round, to speed things up. They'll also be random and quick. How the second round works, we'll see when we get there.

Onto the first match...

WHO IS THIS?

I'm nobody, just some geek who (probably wrongly) thinks this will be fun. If you get a kick out of it and want to show some love, just pass on the link - or buy some of my music! (As a marketing strategy, this could perhaps be the worst ever devised...)
